Converting From Cylinder Gas
Q: Can you convert an LPG appliance to natural gas?
A: Yes, however you must take advice from your Phoenix Natural Gas Qualified Installer (and refer to the details below).
Appliance choice:
Always check before purchasing an LPG appliance that there is a natural gas conversion kit available. If there is no conversion kit available you will not be able to convert your appliance to natural gas. Most gas fires and gas hobs can be converted from LPG to natural gas. It is highly unlikely that LPG ovens and freestanding cookers can be converted. Note – Not all LPG fires and hobs can be converted to natural gas. Before purchasing the appliance, make sure that there is a natural gas conversion kit available. Better still, when you purchase the appliance you should buy the conversion kit as well. This then ensures that the appliance will be converted.
Advice:
If you need advice in identifying suitable appliances simply visit a Phoenix Natural Gas Qualified Retailer or arrange a home visit by one of our Phoenix Natural Gas Qualified Installers. For further information, contact Phoenix on 08454 55 55 55*.
Pipework:
When arranging installation of your new appliances it is advisable to use a Phoenix Natural Gas Qualified Installer who will be suitably qualified to install LPG. Advise your installer to size all pipework to natural gas standards taking suitable account of the proposed natural gas meter position. Ensure that the installer is aware that you intend to convert over to natural gas when it becomes available. Note – ALWAYS use a CORGI registered installer to install any gas appliances. All Phoenix Natural Gas Qualified Installers are also registered with CORGI.
