Race Is On For Homeowners

Phoenix Natural Gas and Northern Ireland Electricity launch their new 'Snug Plus' scheme.
The race is on for homeowners to cash in on a great summer saving of up to £1,000 off the cost of a modern high efficiency natural gas heating installation.
The ‘Snug Plus’ scheme is thanks to Northern Ireland Electricity (NIE), Phoenix Natural Gas (Phoenix) and the Department of Social Development. It helps householders upgrade their old less efficient heating system by offering a discount of up to £1,000 off the installation of a highly efficient natural gas central heating system and also offers an insulation upgrade up to the value of £650.
The scheme is open to qualifying householders with Economy 7, solid fuel, or those who have no heating at all. It is also available to households with a pre 1992 oil boiler or Liquid Petroleum Gas for central heating.
NIE’s Marie Murray explains: “Northern Ireland Electricity, through the Energy Efficiency Programme, is funding this scheme to offer an upgrade to a highly efficient natural gas central heating system. You may think it a bit strange that NIE is promoting a gas installation but in fact, what is more important to us, is that customers use energy wisely.
“NIE has twenty-seven different energy efficiency schemes running throughout Northern Ireland helping customers reduce energy use.”
‘Snug Plus’ is open to those under 60 years of age with children under 16 living at home with a gross income, as a single person or jointly as a couple, between £18,000 and £25,000 per annum. For those over 60 years of age the ‘Snug Plus’ scheme is open to single people earning between £12,000 and £17,000 gross per annum or couples with a gross income between £18,000 and £25,000.
