Phoenix Adds Power To Acceptable Enterprises

26th July 2007
Acceptable Enterprises Larne, the first ‘social firm’ in Northern Ireland offering employment to people recovering from mental ill health and other disabilities, has received a powerful boost from Phoenix Natural Gas.
The local gas company has donated just under 100 used mobile phones and associated chargers, most of which will be cleaned up and repaired by the staff at AEL before being exported outside of Western Europe. The funds raised will be put towards the team’s project of being able to provide sustained development and training for disadvantaged people.
Clare Doran, Human Resources Manager at Phoenix, led the campaign to encourage staff to hand in their old phones and she commented:
“We have always tried to support Acceptable Enterprises and previously they have done a lot of packing work for us. When we found out recently that we could help in this way we were delighted to come on board. We would also call on other companies to consider contacting AEL, after all I am sure there are a lot of old mobile phones out there gathering dust”.
Sam Young, Project Officer at Acceptable Enterprises, reflected:
“We are dedicated to providing a safe, practical and reliable recycling proposition for both businesses and individuals. Working with us is a win-win situation and we look forward to continued support from the business community”.
Acceptable Enterprises is based at LEDCOM Industrial Estate and also offers a range of services that include packaging, print finishing and mail shots.
