Charity Lift For Little Jill.

30th October 2006

Little Jill Nelis (aged 6) from Dundonald who suffers from brittle bone disease and scoliosis has received a welcome boost from a local gas charity. Every day she lives with the threat of bone fractures that she picks up all too often.

Family friend David Frew knew that the Nelis's have for some time been looking to get a special lightweight low wheelchair that would give Jill better access to her toys and give her better manoeuvrability in general.

With this in mind Mr Frew of Belfast company Plumb Center approached industry colleagues about the possibility of getting funding from the Phoenix Energy for Children Charity – set up by the local natural gas industry to raise money to give towards the needs of local disadvantaged children and to really make a difference to their lives.

Mr Frew was delighted when his application was successful and the charity agreed to provide the funds for the new wheelchair and the building of a ramp at the back of Jill's family home. Mr Frew commented:

“Jill is such a happy little girl despite her disability and I am really delighted she is getting this support. Her love of life is an inspiration to everyone that meets her”.
