Phoenix Announce Plans For Extension To Comber

27th September 2007

Today some 200-business delegates from across the UK, Ireland, Europe and as far as the US will converge at the Hilton Hotel, Templepatrick for the 11th Annual Gas Industry Conference hosted by Phoenix Natural Gas.

This year the conference will centre its focus on 'Business In Action', a very timely and relevant theme when Northern Ireland and devolved government is facing many challenges - from climate change to infrastructure development and from economic investment to cost of living issues.

In addressing the delegation, Peter Dixon Group Chief Executive, Phoenix Natural Gas said;

"We are delighted to announce at today's conference that the Northern Ireland Utility Regulator has granted Phoenix an extension to its licensed area, to take natural gas to the town of Comber.  This development is good news for the local community of Comber who will have access to an alternative fuel choice.  At Phoenix we are dedicated to delivering one of the most efficient and lowest carbon fuels available.  Every home converting to natural gas can halve their central heating carbon footprint - contributing to a cleaner environment and making a positive impact on society's effort to address climate change."

Dixon concluded; "Phoenix continues to invest significantly in the development of the gas network, this year a further £16 million private investment will go into natural gas reaching more and more homes and businesses."
